A Birthday Prayer from a Father for His Daughter
Father,
You have blessed my wife and I with this beautiful little girl. She is already a part of our hearts and she has never met us. You know that I've prayed for her protection and will continue to do so until I can hold her in my arms.
I know that this is an awesome responsibility that you've entrusted to my wife and I. I pray that on this day, her 2nd birthday, that her life be committed to you and your kingdom. I pray that she would have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. I pray that you would grant my wife and I with the wisdom needed to raise this child in the nourishment and admonition of your kingdom.
I pray Father that you would use this child as a mighty instrument in your kingdom. Father I pray that she would be a living testament to your kingdom and that your light would shine through her all the days of her life.
Father I pray that she would rest her head in your hand as she falls asleep each night and that you would guide her steps everyday.
Father I thank you for teaching us, through this process, just how deep your love and grace abounds for your children. I understand that while you've called my wife and I to travel halfway around the world for this child that you sent your child from heaven to earth to be a sacrifice for your creation. As my love grows for my daughter, I can't comprehend the love that you had for us by sending your son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross and pay the penalty for our sins.
Father, I thank you for this little girl and I thank you for dying on the cross for my sins.
Please keep my little girl safe.
In Jesus Name I pray this,
Amen.
